Though Rs 12 crore have been spent by the Health Department under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scheme in the previous financial year,as per MLA Dakha Manpreet Ayali, who is also chairman of district rural health monitoring scheme, not many people are aware of the NRHM scheme.

“In my constituency,I give money to many poor residents who are not able to get the treatment done. They were not aware of schemes under NRHM in which many facilities are available,” Ayali said at a meeting of the District Rural Health Committee at Bachat Bhavan here on Wednesday.

Civil surgeon Subash Batta said awareness camps would be organised in many areas of the district so as to make the schemes more popular. In the current year, the budget of Rs 20 crore has been cleared under this scheme.

The civil surgeon said under the Mata Kaushalaya Scheme of free deliveries and incentives, infant mortality had reduced a lot.
