Anti-snatching cell formed

Anti-snatching cell to be formed in the city by the police.

Police on Saturday announced formation of an anti-snatching cell. The cell has been formed in wake of the rising snatching incidents. Assistant commissioner of Police J Elanchezhian has been posted as the supervisor of the cell while inspector Ranjit Singh and ASI Harjit Singh will be the in charge.

ACP Elanchezhian said, the team arrested two persons within 24 hours and recovered a gold ring and a sharp edge weapons. Police also recovered a motorcycle.

On June 19, two accused on motorcycle stabbed a factory worker and snatched gold ring and cash at Noorwala road. The accused has been identified as Amandeep Singh and Manjinder Singh. They have been booked in 19 cases and they are involved in around 40 cases of snatching.
