After panel chief’s intervention,inquiry marked into 2 cases

Following the intervention of Raj Kumar Verka,chairman of the National Commission of SC/ST,police have marked an inquiry into two cases.

The first case relates to the arrest of family members of one Sonia,a resident of Basti Jodhewal area. She complained that the police booked her entire family for attacking a police officer and even arrested her mother Naresh Kumari,father and brother. Her father is handicapped while the brother is a patient of epilepsy.

In the other case,residents of Chak Kalan complained that about 15 houses in their village were demolished by the district administration about a fortnight back. Complainant Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon said it was contempt of court as the matter was already in court.

Verka had come to the city and held a meeting with the police and district administration.
