Supporters of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday clashed in Jaga Ram Teerath village of Punjab.
AAP candidate Baljinder Kaur who belongs to this village said she was attacked and her gunman Gurbaksh Singh saved her.
Both sustained minor injuries. However, SAD leaders stated that three of their supporters were injured after Baljinder’s father Darshan Singh clashed with them along with his supporters.
Baljinder said, “I had informed DC Dr Basant Garg as well as SDM Sakatar Singh Bal that an outsider SAD leader was in the village, but as no one turned up. I myself asked SGPC member Dyal Singh Kolianwali as to why he was in the village when all the outsiders were told to leave the constituency by yesterday 4 p.m. However he stated that no law was for him and immediately his supporters tried to attack me but my gunman Gurbaksh intervened and he saved me.”
Interestingly, sarpanch of the village stated that Kolianwali had come to inquire about health of his wife and had no political motive. But SSP of Bathinda Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated, “no one spotted Kolianiwali in the village and it was a complete confusion. There was some clash between supporters of SAD and AAP in which both sides got injured and we are investigating the details.”
Sources revealed that a compromise was likely to happen between both sides and Gurbaksh as well as SAD supporters had got themselves discharged from hospital. Meetings of AAP leaders and SAD leaders were going on with police till the time of filing this report.
The Indian Express when asked SSP that AAP candidate was categorically stating that she spotted outsider Kolianwali and even spoke with him, but SSP denied and said ,” no one spotted him in village. I am not aware about this.”
Baljinder however said,” I have given my complaint to the police but no action has taken place till now. It is sheer high handedness of SAD leaders to misuse their power. If one Kolianwali was spotted, even many others must also be in hiding as this is their own Government.”
