AAP seeks ban on sale of acid

The incident has rubbished the claim of the administration regarding the sale of acid in the city.

Aam Aadmi Party Ludhiana unit on Wednesday demanded the implementation of SC guidelines on the sale of acid in the city. The party condemned the recent incident of acid attack on a bride at a beauty salon in Sarabha Nagar in which the woman succumbed to her injuries. The incident has rubbished the claim of the administration regarding the sale of acid in the city.

In a written memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal,party members urged the district administration to raid shops selling acid. They also requested the District Administration to issue instructions to the shopkeepers for strict implementation of the SC guidelines. Ravi Sachdeva of the party, said,“This is a serious issue and the sale of acid should be banned. We request the District Administration to take necessary steps for the same immediately as it involves the risk to security of every woman.”

Another party worker,Dupinder Kaur Bharaj,said,“Woman don’t feel safe anywhere. We urge the District Administration to take immediate steps to ensure safety to half the population.”

The party spokesperson also warned of a protest if steps are not taken soon.
