All those who have not yet got Aadhaar cards made must hurry up because they will not be able to avail subsidy on LPG cylinders after three months.
This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari in a press note issued on Monday. He said the Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG (DBTL) scheme had been launched so far in 20 districts of the country, covering 7.3 million LPG consumers. The DBTL scheme had now been launched in another 34 districts of the country, including Ludhiana,on September 1,covering 14.7 million LPG consumers.
Tiwari said that under the DBTL scheme, cash subsidy was transferred for the LPG cylinders directly into the bank accounts of the LPG consumers. In order to avail transfer of cash subsidy into the bank account,Aadhaar number of the LPG consumer has to be linked to the LPG consumer number and the bank account of the LPG consumer.
He said initially,a three-month grace period from the date of launch was being provided so that the consumers left out could also get time for making Aadhaar cards. The Aadhaar number was mandatory for availing LPG subsidy in DBTL districts after the initial grace period of three months.
