80% staff found absent from Mansa govt offices

In several surprise checks conducted by Mansa Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Professor Rakesh Kumar on Tuesday,more than 80 per cent employees were found absent in different government offices in the region.

In several surprise checks conducted by Mansa Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Professor Rakesh Kumar on Tuesday,more than 80 per cent employees were found absent in different government offices in the region.

During the checking,which was carried out on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner C S Talwar,teams raided offices of the power corporation,government schools,Mandi board offices and others between 9 am and 10.30 am. “We were surprised to see that in most offices,there was not even a register to log the movement of the officers when they go for field jobs. Even employees who have additional charges had not decided which day they will visit which office.”

The absentees included assistant excise and taxation commissioner,SDO drainage,district programme officer Naresh Kumar,District Welfare Officer Kuldeep Singh,district manager of PUNSUP,district manager of Punjab agro,district forest officer,chief agriculture officer,block development programme officer and district employment officer. While the district food and civil supplies officer was on a tour,his entire staff was absent. Assistant food and civil supplies officer,along with eight inspectors,were also found absent from duty.

Moreover,a large number of employees in Nagar council were found absent. Majority of the employees in the rest of the Mandi board offices in Mansa and Budhlada were also missing from duty.
