Hosts Uttar Pradesh Secretariat team drubbed Pondicherry Secretariat squad by 6-1 in their quarter-final clash to secure a berth for themselves in the last four stage match of the All India Civil Services Hockey Tournament at Guru Govind Singh Sports College,Lucknow on Wednesday.

RSB Jaipur,RSB Patna and RSB Bangalore also emerged winners in their respective quarter-final matches to secure a berth in the semi-final of the tourney.

Forward Gulfam Ali broke the ice for UP in the 11th minute of the play. Angad Sharma consolidated the lead further two minutes later. Bolstered by his initial success,Gulfam netted another goal in the 16th minute to make the half-time score 3-0. The second-half was no different a story. UP’s Jai Prakash Srivastav and Vijay Kumar Yadav scored a goal each in the 48th and 53rd minute,respectively,to consolidate the lead to 5-0. Though KP Jyaees succeeded in bringing down th margin to 5-1 through a penalty corner awarded to Pondicherry Secretariat in the 64th minute but by that time it was perhaps too late to make amends. Vijay Kumar Yadav netted another goal in the 69th minute to pave the way for a 6-1 win for UP Secretariat team.

Tabish Hayat scored a hat-trick of goals as RSB Patna beat RSB Hyderabad 6-0. Manoj Kumar Toppo,Manbahal Herenge and Y Nag scored apiece.

RSB Jaipur defeated Central Secretariat Delhi 5-3 through tie-breaker in their quarter-final clash. The score at the regular time period was tied at 2-2.

The pre-quarterfinal match between RSB Bangalore and RSB Indore which could not be completed on Tuesday due to bat light,was completed on Wednesday. As the match ended in a 1-1 draw,the tie-breaker method had to be resorted to in which RSB Bangalore emerged winner 7-6.

In their quarter-final match played later in the day,RSB Bangalore outclassed RSB Chandigarh 3-1. MA Bopanna,Prakash Chalke and PM Sommaiah were the goal-getters on behalf of RSB Banglore while Daljindar Pal Singh found the target on behalf of RSB Chandigarh.

Thursday’s Fixtures (semi-finals): UP vs RSB Jaipur (at 2.00 pm); RSB Patna vs RSB Bangalore (at 3.30 pm).
