UP farmers to attend Gujarat agro meet

Three hundred farmers from Uttar Pradesh will learn the latest agriculture practices during the Vibrant Gujarat Global High Tech Agro Summit to be organised at Gandhinagar on September 9 and 10

Three hundred farmers from Uttar Pradesh will learn the latest agriculture practices during the Vibrant Gujarat Global High Tech Agro Summit to be organised at Gandhinagar on September 9 and 10. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will address the farmers.

This will be the first official participation of UP at any event in Gujarat after CM Akhilesh Yadav assumed power. UP’s Agriculture Department will also set up its stall at the stall to highlight its achievements.

“We have selected four progressive farmers from each district of UP for their visit to Gujarat. We have accepted the invitation of the Gujarat government,” M P Upadhyay,state coordinator,Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) of the Agriculture Department said. ATMA is facilitating the trip.

Progressive farmers will also be felicitated by Modi.

Barabanki farmer Ram Saran Verma has been shortlisted for felicitation by Modi. “They had asked for my biodata. I will be setting up a stall at the summit,” said Verma,who has earned accolades for his techniques to farm banana and tomato. “I will try to get inputs about groundnut cultivation from Gujarat. Since groundnut is scarce in our state,we need to learn techniques from Gujarat.”
