During his interaction with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Varanasi on Saturday, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is likely to brief the former about investment potentials of Uttar Pradesh. District officials said Akhilesh will welcome both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Abe at the airport and accompany them later for Ganga aarti and dinner.

Sources said Akhilesh will interact the Japanese PM at the hotel where he will stay. “The CM will brief the Japanese PM about the major projects going on and investment potentials available here. He will also request for investment in the industrial sector to create job opportunities and infrastructure,” a senior official said.

He added that the UP government expects investment and technical support from Japan because the state receives a good number of Japanese tourists every year at Buddhist pilgrimage centres like Sarnath in Varanasi, Kushinagar and Shrawasti districts.

Around 15 gates and 50 hoardings, displaying messages from Akhilesh for the two PMs are being put up in Varanasi. The CM has directed the Varanasi Municipal Corporation to ensure cleanliness in the city.
