THE BANDA police on Saturday morning recovered the body of a 13-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and murdered in a graveyard at Kalinjar area. The victim had left home on Friday evening and had been missing since, police said.
An FIR has been lodged on charges of rape and murder against unidentified person at Kalinjar police station on a complaint filed by victim’s father, a resident of Katra village, who works as a daily wage labourer.
Kalinjar police Station Officer Rakesh Pandey said: “A resident of Katra informed us that the body of a girl was lying on the gate of the graveyard. We rushed to the spot and seized the body. There was a injury mark on the right side of the victim’s head. The graveyard is around 200 m from the victim’s residence.”
“The victim’s family said she left home on Friday evening for some work and did not return. They looked for her but failed to locate her,” he added. The postmortem report said the girl was raped before she was murdered. The cause of death was shock and haemorrhage due to ante-mortem injuries, said the SO.
