A high-voltage drama preceded polling in Mahoba district on Wednesday late night when BJP senior leader Uma Bharti staged a dharna at Charkhari police station after three party workers were reportedly arrested following information that they distributed money among voters.
Uma is contesting as BJP candidate from Charkhari where polling is scheduled Thursday and campaigning in the area was stopped since Tuesday evening.
Party leaders have accused the district administration and police of harassing the BJP workers on the directives of the BSP government and Congress.
Party state vice-president Mahendra Singh said the three party workers were arrested. These three party workers have ben identified as Piyush,Jitendra and Hamir Singh.
On getting the news,Uma along with other party workers rushed to the police station. According to reports,a police personnel even tried to restrict Uma from entering the police station.
