Another tiger kill was reported from Kishanpur Sanctuary in Lakhimpur on Sunday.

Bela Devi (35),a resident of south Tanda village, went into the core jungle area to collect firewood around 2 pm. Her partly eaten body was recovered around an hour later.

As soon as the tiger attacked the victim, other villagers who happened to be nearby raised an alarm. After sometime, villagers and the Forest department officials rushed to the spot.

“The tiger had dragged the body around 30 m and eaten the right leg. The victim should not have gone into the core jungle area where the tigers live,” said R C Jha,Divisional Forest Officer of South Kheri.

The Forest department officials are not ruling out the possibility that it could be the same tiger that had killed two villagers earlier. “We will match the pug marks to ascertain if it is the same tiger. In earlier instances, however, the tiger had not eaten its victims,” said Jha.
