The state government Friday shifted BJP MLAs Sangeet Singh Som and Suresh Rana,lodged in different jails on charges of inciting riots in Muzaffarnagar,and the National Security Act,back to Muzaffarnagar jail.
Both Som and Rana had filed applications in Muzaffarnagar Chief Judicial Magistrates court,challenging government decision to transfer them to Orai and Banda district jails,respectively,September 21 after their arrest.
The court had issued notice to Muzaffarnagar jail superintendent asking him to reply about the grounds on which the two were transferred to other jails.
ADG Prisons R P Singh said fresh orders for the transfer of the MLAs to Muzaffarnagar jail were issued Friday. The decision was taken following applications filed by them in court.
Muzaffarnagar jail superintendent said he had informed court Friday that both Som and Rana had been transferred back to Muzaffarnagar jail. The two were produced before the court Friday and sent in judicial custody till October 18.
No hearing via video conferencing for MLAs
