Badaun resident Mohan Prakash was severely beaten up by local Samajwadi Party MLA Abid Raza when he allegedly refused to transfer his land in the name of one of the MLA’s supporters.

Badaun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ratan Kumar Srivastava said they had received a complaint in this regard. “It is not such a big issue. It is being probed and no case has been registered against the MLA.”

A meeting of Sahu community,to which Prakash belongs, was held in Badaun on Thursday to demand action against the MLA..

Raza, however, claimed he was being framed by the BJP.

“My only fault is that I am a Muslim MLA and the BJP leaders are against me. This person has a past history of cheating people. He is also involved in making spurious diesel. He came to meet me but nobody thrashed him,” he said.

Prakash,a resident of Uparpada, said the MLA’s supporters – namely,Manoj Gupta,Rajendra Mathuria and Rizwan Ahmed who is a Lekhpal in the Revenue Department, visited his residence on Tuesday. Since he was not there, they threatened the women at his house and left after taking his mobile number,Prakash added.

Later, one of the MLA’s supporters called him and asked to reach Nagar Palika office. “When I reached there, the MLA along with his supporters asked me to transfer my one bigha of land near RTO office in their name. When I refused they took off my clothes and started beating me,” said Prakash.

He said he was also forced to sign blank papers. “I signed to save my life,” he said, adding the MLA had joined his supporters in beating him.

Prakash said the Kotwali police had earlier refused to entertain his complaint. He then approached the SSP along with the members of his community. The SSP,too,he said, took his application after much delay.

“Though my medical examination was conducted after one day,I am still waiting for the X-ray report. I am much afraid of the consequences,” he said.
