Chiefs of various district units of the Samajwadi Party want action against government officials who allegedly harassed SP workers during the Mayawati regime. They are sending lists of such officials to the party’s state headquarters.

The SP leaders said party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav had asked them to identify such officials during campaigning for the Assembly election.

Interestingly, the list has Chief Development Officer,ASPs,SOs,SI,constables and even village-level employees.

The most comprehensive list so far has been sent by the Pratapgarh unit. It includes principal of Government Inter College, cashier at block office, panchayat secretary,ARTO,minority welfare officer besides others.

“These officials harassed the SP workers during the BSP regime. Our partymen were not allowed to enter their office; if they raised any genuine point, they were thrown out,” said district president of Pratapgarh Bhaiyya Ram Patel.

They even want action against officials who are no more posted in their district. “Though they have been transferred but action should be taken against them for their partisan role during the BSP regime,” said Patel.

Rajesh Kumar Yadav, president,Patti assembly constituency in Pratapgarh has,for instance, named former tehsildar Rajendra Tiwari and former SO Ramendra Tiwari.

Several district unit chiefs of SP admitted that they had sent such a list to the party headquarters.

At Azamgarh, district unit president Havaldar Yadav said he sent his list long ago. “I cannot disclose the names, but I have sent the list to the party headquarters,” said Yadav.

District president of Mau Shailendra aka Sadhu Yadav said: “I sent the list soon after the government was formed.”

District president of Moradabad Gopal Singh Yadav said it was intimated to senior leaders of the party. “Now there has been a total revamp of the district. New officials are there and if anyone of them is left he cannot dare to harass SP workers for any of their genuine work,” he said.

Jaunpur district president Raj Bahadur Yadav said the matter was sensitive and he cannot reveal the details. “We conveyed such things to the officials from time to time. But now the regime has changed and no one can harass any person for their genuine demands,” said Raj Bahadur.

District president of Ghazipur unit Sudarshan Yadav, too, said he has sent such a list to the party office.

However, party spokesperson Rajendra Choudhary said the SP will not be vindictive towards officials.

“We will not take action against any official on the basis of such requests. There will be a proper investigation if they had misused their office and had harassed SP workers,” said Choudhary.
