ALLAHABAD: Investigation into misappropriation of money by the cash loading in-charge of a security agency has revealed that he had taken out over Rs 1.5 crore from eight ATMs,not Rs 1 crore as believed earlier.

The police detained his colleague for questioning but released him after his involvement was ruled out.

Initially,it was believed that accused Bhupesh Kumar had disappeared with Rs 1.16 crore from around half-a-dozen ATMs of Axis Bank. “The bank authorities have found that a little over Rs 1.5 crore has been taken away from eight ATMs,” said Inspector In-charge (Civil Lines) Satyendra Tiwari.

Tiwari added that the police are awaiting CCTV footage that was to be made available by the bank concerned. “The footage might help us in getting more clues,” said Tiwari.

The bank had told the police earlier that the administration of matters related to installation and collection of CCTV footage was in the hands of the Mumbai office and it could take a couple of days before it could be made available to the police.
