RPF Inspector P N Shukla has been suspended in connection with the Sunday incident in which Samajwadi Party MLA Shakir Ali created a scene at the Deoria railway station when he rode a horse on the platform brought by his supporters. Shukla was in-charge of the Railway Protection Force post in Deoria.
Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Varanasi division of North-Eastern Railway A N Jha suspended Shukla for negligence of duty.
IG,RPF,C Damodaran said Shukla was suspended on the basis of an inquiry conducted by assistant security commissioner R N Sharma. As per official record,Shukla was on duty at the railway station since 8.30 am Sunday. But it was found that he was not physically present at the railway station since 8.30 in the morning, said IG.
He added that the inquiry team also found that Shukla neither made any effort to avert the incident nor took any action against the trouble-mongers. The inspector has also been accused of informing the headquarters about the incident late. The incident took place around 10.30 am while Shukla reported to the headquarters in Gorakhpur at 4.00 pm.
The IG added that the inquiry team found that Shukla registered a case only after senior officials instructed him to so late in the evening on Sunday. The railway officials said they had verified the record and found that the MLA was carrying a train ticket. His ticket of AC coach was from Gorakhpur to Bhatni, but the MLA left the train at Deoria, said railway officials.
On Sunday morning, scores of people had reached Deoria railway station to welcome Ali who had arrived by Vaishali Express. The supporters had also brought a horse. When Ali was asked to ride the horse,he promptly complied. While coming out of the railway station, some supporters of the MLA also allegedly misbehaved with passengers that led to a scene.
