AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday held a meeting of the vigilance and monitoring committee of Amethi district and reviewed the progress of the schemes like MNREGS,PMGSY and Indira Awas Yojana.

Rahul was reportedly unhappy with the progress in the implementation of these government schemes. He asked the district administration to send its team to at least one village of all the 16 blocks in his constituency for spot verification of the works under MNREGA.

Sources said Rahul has also asked the district administration regarding delay in the completion of repair works on five roads in his constituency. Some members at the meeting pointed out that several villages are not getting drinking waters despite re-boring of the hand-pumps.

Rahul reached the Amethi district collectorate about one and a half hour behind schedule. Several girls of a government girls inter college had gathered on Fursatganj-Amethi road to protest against the absence of basic facilities like bench, teachers and hand-pumps in their schools. Rahul’s route was changed in view of the gathering. Later,he inaugurated a computerised branch of UCO bank at Bhadar village in his Amethi.
