Prasant of RDSO bagged a double crown by winning both the men’s singles and men’s doubles events in the 3rd RDSO District Inter-Office Open Badminton Tournament which came to a close in Lucknow on Sunday.

The Results:(all finals): Team Championship event: RDSO (Red) beat NER (Lko) 2-1; Men’s Singles: Prashant (RDSO) beat M Shariq (RDSO) 17-21,21-7,21-10; Men’s Doubles: Prashant/Shariq (RDSO) beat TS Bisht/ Agha (NER) 19-21,21-18,21-13; ‘Officers singles’: Rajesh Khandelwal (SIDBI) beat Ramesh Mahajan (LDA) 21-14,23-21; ‘Officers doubles’: KG Saxena (RBI)/ Sanjay Gupta (LU) beat Manish Agarwal/ Manish Thapliyal (RDSO) 21-23,21-9,21-11.

Squash tourney

THE 1st UP Masters Squash Tournament 2009 was held at CSI squash courts,Lucknow on March 7 and 8 by the Lucknow Squash Rackets Association. Teams from Lucknow,Kanpur,Noida,Allahabad and other districts participated in the event. In order to encourage the sport among children,demonstration matches in the below 7 years and below 15 years age group were also organised. Justice DP Singh presided over the prize distribution ceremony.

45 to 55 years: 1st Vikas Sharma,2nd Sanjay Gupta; 35 to 40 years: 1st Dr Jaideep Chandra,2nd Vikas Gupta,3rd Pankaj Bajaj; Below 35 years: 1st Girish Gupta,2nd Karan; Demonstration matches: Below 15 years: 1st Varun Tandon; Below 7 years: 1st Parva Mehrotra,2nd Anupam Shankar,3rd Divy Chandra.

Weekly bridge

BN Rastogi and Dr SK Agarwal emerged winners in an IMP pairs event held at Lucknow Club as a part of a weekend bridge tourney. Forteen pairs played 11 rounds of 2 boards each. The IMP pair was won by BN Rastogi and Dr SK Agarwal averaging more than 2.1 IMPs per deal and with a margin of 7 IMPs. They had five deals of 7 IMP and more netting 49 IMPs. The distinction of giving away least number of IMP 12 ,8 of which were given in the last round,in the field also went to them.
