The Returning Officer of Govardhan constituency in Mathura district has said there was no violation of the model code of conduct by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh’s son Jayant Chaudhary in taking money during an election rally in Govardhan.

Jayant and RLD candidate from Govardhan Thakur Meghshyam Singh were issued a notice by Returning Officer Rekha S Chauhan on Monday after being shown on TV receiving money during an election rally on Sunday.

Chauhan has sent a report to the CEO stating that the money in question was not used for inducing the voters but was meant for raising funds for Singh’s election campaign which is no violation of the model code of conduct.

She said that an amount of Rs 51,000 was given by Than Singh, former pradhan of Magora village,to the RLD candidate as donation for his election campaign at the rally. Jayant, who was asked to reply within 24 hours, has also denied the charges, saying that the cash in question was received as party fund and not for distribution amongst voters.
