In an attempt to galvanise public support ahead of Narendra Modi’s rally in Lucknow Sunday, BJP workers in the state will donate blood weighing more than the party’s prime ministerial candidate to various government hospitals.
BJP leaders said over 400 workers will be part of this unique initiative and they will donate more than 80 litres blood, as Narendra Modi weighs around 80 kg.
The idea was mooted by a former BJP Gorakhpur municipal corporator, Harikesh Kumar Gupta, and to make the event successful, local MP Yogi Adityanath flagged off two buses Thursday carrying 85 party workers to Lucknow.
The party had till date only organised blood donation camps on the birth anniversaries of party patriarch Atal Bihari Vajpayee. BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai has requested Lucknow CMO to make arrangements for the blood donation drive. Lucknow CMO SNS Yadav told The Indian Express that a team of doctors will arrive at the BJP office Thursday to kick off the donation drive.
Party state president Laxmikant Bajpai said that over 400 workers will donate 200 ml each.
