After declaring last week that his party’s support to the UPA government would continue,Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday said it was not easy fighting the Congress as the government can always misuse the CBI.

Talking to reporters at the party office,Mulayam said,“You don’t know,we are fighting a big battle. It is not easy to fight the Congress. A government has thousands of hands and it can lodge cases, put me in jail and set the CBI after me.”

Mulayam said he had opposed even the Emergency when anyone could be shot for opposing it. “Still we opposed it tooth and nail, raised a voice against it. You don’t know how much we sacrificed,” he added.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav tried to persuade Mulayam to leave, but he persisted,“You people don’t have any information. There has been deterioration in media more than in politics. You people are always looking for bad things in me and never try to highlight my good work. I know your opinion very well.”
