Kunda murders Ex-minister grilled for second day,six others also quizzed.
The CBI today questioned former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya for the second day at its camp office in Kunda of Pratapgarh. He was grilled for nine hours about his alleged role in the conspiracy of murder of Balipur pradhan Nanhey Yadav.
Six other suspects in the murder of DSP Ziaul Haque were also questioned. They were Nanhey Singh,Raju,Shiva,Hari Lal,Nanhey Patel and Nanhey Gautam. Except Nanhey Gautam,all work at different properties owned by Raja Bhaiyya.
Sources said that Raja Bhaiyya was asked to explain the alleged harassment of pradhan Nanhey Yadav,his father Dukhi Ram and brother Suresh by him and his aides after they had provided labourers for demolition of his pond at Benti village in 2003. The then administration had hired the labourers from Nanhey Yadav and his father.
The CBI asked Raja Bhaiyya if his aides had taken Nanhey Yadav to Kanpur jail where he was lodged after demolition of the pond. He was also asked if Nanhey was manhandled inside the jail and subsequently in Kunda at his instance for providing the labourers.
The officials also asked him if Nanhey Yadav and his brother Suresh were harassed by his men on one or other pretext later and if he was aware of the fact.
Raja Bhaiyya is believed to have denied having met Nanhey Yadav during his jail term in Kanpur and also having any role in his and his family members alleged harassment.
In fact,Raja Bhaiyya claimed that Nanhey Yadav had played an active role during his election campaigns in 2007 and 2012 Assembly elections. He said that Nanhey Yadav was a frequent visitor to his house and used to discuss issues related to villages under his gram panchayat.
CBI officials asked him to explain his purpose behind making a phone call to independent MLA Vinod Saroj,when he was visiting the pradhans house,and talking to pradhans brother Pawan a few minutes before the UP Chief Ministers visit to the slain pradhans family.
Pawan had alleged during CBI interrogation that Raja Bhaiyya had threatened him not speak against him or his aides before the Chief Minister. The sources said that Raja Bhaiyya denied having threatened Pawan and claimed that he had assured him of help to pradhans family in their grief.
More arrests in the pipeline
Sources said that the CBI is set to make more arrests in the DSP Ziaul Haque s murder case on the basis of information collected from witnesses Arjun Patel and Chokhey Lal. They told the agency that they saw Nanhey Singh of Purnemau village and Raju,Hari Lal,Shiva,Nanhey Patel and Nanhey Gautam of Balipur village accompanying pradhans brothers Suresh,Pawan and Phoolchand when the Kunda DSP was attacked.
