Naqvi ‘violates’ model code,criminal case filed

A criminal case under various sections of the IPC was registered against Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi,BJP candidate for Rampur,and other party workers on Tuesday night for indulging in a fracas with the police and also violating the Model Code of Conduct.

A criminal case under various sections of the IPC was registered against Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi,BJP candidate for Rampur,and other party workers on Tuesday night for indulging in a fracas with the police and also violating the Model Code of Conduct.

Rampur Superintendent of Police Jyoti Narayan said a mob of BJP workers gheraoed the Patwai police station and blocked the road,protesting against the seizure of a vehicle which carried party symbols and violated the model code of conduct.

After arriving at the venue,Naqvi addressed the mob and made a rousing speech in presence of the police and the local administration.

According to Narayan,Naqvi and the BJP workers handed over a memorandum to the sub-divisional magistrate,alleging that the station house officer of the local police station had misbehaved with them and made casteist comments on a legislator.

Narayan said he has ordered an inquiry into the allegation made by the BJP workers.

Sub-Inspector Ram Kishan lodged an FIR against Naqvi and 200 others under Sections 143 (punishment for being a part of an unlawful assembly),342 (punishment for wrongful confinement),344 (wrongful confinement) and 188 (disobedience to the order against unlawful assembly) of IPC and 7 Criminal Law Amendment Act,the SP said.
