“It all started on Friday when Haseen Abbas went to purchase atta from a nearby shop owned by Jabbar at Chittaur village. Haseen had heated argument with Jabbar for making him wait for a long time. Following the intervention of locals, the matter was sorted out,” said Muzaffarnagar Circle Officer Jagdish Singh.
Jansath Station House Officer Dhananjay Mishra added: “On Saturday morning, Haseen’s elder brother Hussain Abaas, who works in Delhi, came to Muzaffarnagar. Hussain, along with other family members, went to Jabbar’s shop and exchanged heated arguments with him. Jabbar’s relatives pelted stone on Haseen’s family from the terrace.”
According to the complaint lodged by Haseen’s cousin Irshad Ali, in the meantime, Jabbar and his relatives attacked them with sharp-edged weapon and sticks. Haseen reportedly was injured in the stomach.
Hearing about the clash, a police team reached the spot and dispersed the crowd. Those injured were sent to a hospital, where doctors declared Hussain brought dead on arrival.
Later, Irshad got an FIR lodged on charges of murder and attempt to murder against eight persons, including Waheed at Jansath police station. On Sunday, Waheed, Abrar, Jabbar and Kavar were arrested. Weapons reportedly used in the crime have been recovered, said the SHO.
