The SP has alleged that party legislator Vijay Mishra named by Chief Minister Mayawati for links with the accused in the Allahabad blast was being targeted by two state Cabinet ministers and the DGP and even faced a grave threat to his life.
The SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadavs brother and senior party leader Ram Gopal Yadav has written to Mayawati, alleging that her ministers Rakesh Dhar Tripathi and Ranganath Mishra and DGP Karamveer Singh were targetting Vijay Mishra. Dozens of false cases have been framed against Vijay Mishra and his family members under influence from two of your Cabinet colleagues Ranganath Mishra and Rakesh Dhar Tripathi. Even there is a conspiracy being hatched by some criminals and some officers (of the state government) to kill Vijay Mishra, Yadav wrote, alleging the complicity of DGP Karamveer Singh, who he claimed had an old feud with the the SP legislator.
I am given to understand that there is a conspiracy to frame Vijay Mishra in a false case and send him to jail to get him killed either through criminals in jail or during transit for hearing of the case. It is for this reason that Vijay Mishra has been forced to stay out of the state because of the fear to his life from the above mentioned ministers and officers, Yadav wrote.
He also pointed out that Tripathi has an accused in the killing of Vijay Mishras father.
In his letter,Mulayams brother also cited the apprehensions of Vijay Mishras wife, who has petitioned him to seek protection from the two ministers and the DGP.
I would like to request you to personally intervene in the matter to protect the life of Vijay Mishra and also investigate the actions against him through an independent agency, Yadav wrote to Mayawati.
Yadavs SOS to Mayawati holds significance in wake of the fact that the Chief Minister only on Saturday pointed to Vijay Mishras patronage to the accused in the Allahabad blast targeting state minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi. One person was killed and the minister and The Indian Express staffer Vijay Pratap Singh were among those injured in the blast last week.
However,Yadav denied any links between his letter and the fingers of suspicion leading to Vijay Mishra. Let me be very clear that my letter to the Chief Minister has nothing to do with administration pointing fingers towards Vijay Mishra for the Allahabad blast. In fact,I wrote to the Chief Minister not only before the administrations attempt to link Vijay Mishra to this case but it was written even before the Allahabad incident, he said over the phone. In fact,he said he has written the same letter to teh UP Assembly Speaker too to draw his attention.
