The State Employee’s Joint Council (SEJC) on Thursday withdrew its proposed protest outside the Vidhan Bhawan on Friday after a fruitful meeting with Principal Secretary (Home) R M Srivastava.

The protest was announced in the wake of an incident in Mirzapur where a junior engineer (JE) was assaulted by the supporters of Minister of State for Basic Education Kailash Chaurasia over of a room at Irrigation Dak Bungalow.

The incident occurred on July 14 evening when a representative of the minister, identified as Sanjay Chaurasia, reached Dak Bungalow and demanded a room for himself and other supporters of the ministers.

As the rooms were occupied by SP MLA Ram Singh, the JE on duty,Rajesh Yadav, expressed his inability. This infuriated Chaurasia who thrashed him.
