The victim was admitted to a government hospital in Meerut Tuesday after she complained of labour pain. She gave birth to a baby girl in the evening. Doctors stated the condition of the mother and baby as stable.
“After coming to know about the delivery, I moved an application in court on Wednesday morning seeking permission for DNA test. The court has issued direction to Chief Medical Officer, Meerut to make arrangements to collect blood sample of the accused from jail and also from the newly born child, if possible, for DNA test. Samples would be sent to laboratory in Lucknow for test,” said Sub-Inspector Naresh Kumar, the investigating officer of the case,
Families of the victim and accused too had requested for the DNA test after the delivery, the S-I added.
Victim’s father is a daily wage labourer.
The girl’s parents came to know about her pregnancy when she complained of severe pain in her stomach last month. She was taken to the hospital where the doctor revealed that she was seven-and-a-half-months pregnant.
When her parents questioned the girl, she reportedly told them that Mehtab had raped her with the help of Farzana.
On August 23, the victim’s mother filed a complaint alleging that Mehtab and his friend Pervez sexually assaulted her daughter following which she got pregnant. The mother also alleged Mehtab’s sister-in-law Farzana had called the minor to her house where she was sexually assaulted.
She also alleged that her daughter did not inform about the crime as the accused had threatened her with dire consequences.
The victim’s statement was recorded before the magistrate after her medical examination was done.
On September 8, police arrested Mehtab and produced him before the court, which sent him to judicial custody.
“During investigation, Pervez was given clean chit as he was not found involved in the crime. The victim too in her statement before police and magistrate had not accused Pervez. We have moved an application seeking direction to issue non-bailable warrant against Farzana, who is on the run,” said the investigating officer.
