Maya’s Excise Policy to remain

The new government has decided to continue with the existing Excise Policy for the 2012-2013 financial year,and promised to review it soon.

The new government has decided to continue with the existing Excise Policy for the 2012-2013 financial year,and promised to review it soon. The two-year policy was formulated by former Mayawati government in 2010,which ended on March 31,2012. “In absence of any decision on the revision of the existing policy,it has been decided to continue with the existing policy for the current financial year as well starting from today but soon it would be reviewed,” said KS Atoria,Principal Secretary,UP Excise Department. The excise policy of Mayawati Government ran into controversy following allegations that it benefit a select group of people.

Rakesh Garg Made Principal Secretary to CM

Lucknow: The government on Sunday night appointed 1980-batch IAS officer Rakesh Garg as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Garg recently returned from the central deputation sting. With Garg’s posting,the CMO has now one principal secretary-rank,two secretary-rank and three special secretary-rank officers.

Jilani appointed Additional A-G

LUCKNOW: The state government appointed senior lawyer Zarafaryab Jilani,who is counsel for Sunni Central Board of Waqf in the Ayodhya case,as its new Additional Advocate General. Jilani would mainly handle the cases of the state government in the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court. Besides him,senior lawyer Vidhu Bhushan Singh has been also appointed as additional advocate general for Allahabad High Court. Jilani is member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He is one lawyer,who has been handling the Ayodhya case from the very beginning. Jilani had started his career as a lawyer in the year 1974.
