The condition of the maneater tiger, which is prowling in the forests of Faizabad and was injured by a forest official’s bullet last Saturday,is now stable. Experts said it was not a serious wound but just a minor injury from which the big cat has recovered.

On Saturday evening, the squad, constituted to kill the tiger, had claimed that in an encounter with the predator near Betia river the animal had sustained bullet injuries. It,however, managed to escape and the officials abandoned chase due to darkness. Next day,the combing team followed the blood trail into the undergrowth, where the animal was suspected to have taken cover.

Senior forest officer A N Singh said the tiger had it last hunt on Saturday and hence was not moving out in search of food.
