FOUR PERSONS were on Sunday arrested for allegedly raping and sexually assaulting a 25-year-old woman at a party in a hotel in Banthara area of Lucknow late Saturday. The hotel’s manager was also arrested on charges of conspiracy.

The woman, who works as a party organiser, told police that she and her two friends were called to the hotel by another friend to attend a dance party. She alleged that the man, along with his three friends, molested and assaulted her when she objected to their advances. She claimed one of them later carried her to a hotel room, where she was raped. The accused also reportedly threatened her not to inform the police and snatched her two cellphones.

A team of Banthara police and Crime Branch arrested the four from Mohanlalganj Road on Sunday afternoon. Police claimed to have recovered several “objectionable items” from the hotel and also arrested its manager for allegedly conspiring and organising a dance party without permission. They are now looking for the hotel owner.

Banthara police Station Officer Sanjay Kharwar said the accused work for Dabur group in Lucknow.

The four have been booked under sections 376(2)(G) (gangrape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 379 (theft) of the IPC.
