Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has directed to publicise the government schemes and initiatives through large high resolution LED (light-emitting diode) display hoardings. The government has already selected two companies and four sites in Lucknow, where these display screens would come up at a cost of about Rs 60 lakh each.

“For past few months we have been working on this project and finally ‘Letter of Intent’ has been issued to private companies,” said a senior government officer. He said that UP Information Department and UP Electronics Corporation Ltd will co-ordinate the project. State government would pay about Rs 5.5 lakh per month as rent for using 60 per cent of the time on these hoardings, whereas concerned companies would have to bear the cost of both installation and maintenance.

The first four of these 54-square meter hoardings would come up by Deepawali on the Kalidas Marg crossing, which leads to Chief Minister residence,on main Hazaratganj crossing near Allahabad bank, near LDA office in Gomtinagar and near bus station in Alambagh.
