The district court lawyers on Wednesday protested outside the office of DIG (Allahabad) alleging misbehaviour with a lawyer and his female relative in a park by some policemen on Tuesday evening.

The DIG has assured the lawyers of action against policemen,if they were found guilty. DIG Prakash D said: “The lawyers blocked the road and protested outside my office premises. We had to lock the gate from inside to prevent any untoward situation. I have ordered an inquiry into the matter.”

The police said that lawyer Virendra Shukla, along with a female relative, had gone to Saraswati Ghat on Yamuna banks last evening. They were sitting in a park when a police patrol team approached them and asked certain questions. The lawyers alleged that the policemen not only misbehaved with Shukla’s relative but also manhandled him. They further alleged that the policemen also did not register a complaint of the lawyer. The lower court lawyers today gathered at the DIG office and protest against the incident.
