A police sub-inspector (S-I),two policemen and the family members of a girl from Bahraich allegedly tried to kidnap a girl and her boyfriend,who had reportedly married against the wishes of the girls family,as well as their lawyer from near the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court where the couple had come for the hearing of their petition on Friday morning.
Taking serious note of the incident,the high court has directed the police to ensure the security of the girl,boy and his family members.
An FIR was lodged at Waziraganj police station against the S-I who is police outpost in-charge at Bauri police station of Bahraich district,two other policemen accompanying him,the father of the girl,Ram Sahare Dikshit,and two others under sections 364 (kidnapping in order to murder) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC on the complaint of the lawyer,Pramesh Kumar Jaiswal.
Jaiswal said the boy,Pravesh Kumar,had married the girl a few months ago against the wishes of the girls parents. A case of kidnapping was lodged against Kumar,his father,sister and brother at Bauri police station by the girls father in March. He said the girls father had lodged the FIR,falsely claiming the girl to be a minor.
Jaiswal said Kumar had filed a petition in the high court seeking the quashing of the FIR and stay his arrest and that of his family members.
Jaiswal said he had come to the court along with the couple for the hearing of the case on Friday morning when a police team and some persons including the girls father forcibly dragged him and Kumar in a vehicle from outside the high court. He alleged the policemen and family members also tried to abduct the girl but failed. He said the accused persons carried them till the Health Directorate roundabout where the car was stopped by a group of lawyers who had come to help him on his call.
While the driver of the vehicle was caught by the lawyers,others managed to escape. Additional SP(West) Ajay Kumar said police have taken the driver of the vehicle,Kamal Tiwari,into custody and the vehicle has also been seized.
Jaiswal said the high court took serious note of the incident and directed Lucknow SSP and Bahraich SP to ensure the security of the girl,boy and his family members. He said the girl’s statement was also recorded before Lucknow chief judicial magistrate and the high court has stayed the arrest of Kumar and his family members in the case of kidnapping lodged in Bahraich.
