A local court in Agra has admitted a petition seeking direction to file FIR against six political leaders, including Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and UP minister Azam Khan, for allegedly supporting those students of Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) who had allegedly raised anti-national slogans during an event on February 9.

Admitting the application by local lawyer Subhash Giri, the court on Thursday sought report from Agra police and fixed March 9 for next hearing the matter.

Contacted, Giri said, “I have filed an application in court against Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Azam Khan, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, JD(U) MP K C Tyagi and CPI MP D Raja for supporting students who had raised anti-national slogans and had also held death anniversary of Afzal Guru on the JNU campus.”

“I sought direction for lodging FIR against these political leaders because police have already taken action against those students. By supporting them, these leaders have hurt sentiments of the citizens,” alleged Giri.
