The government, which has received a large number of responses, have got a shot in the arm with IT giants Intel and Oracle also giving their inputs to the draft.

At a review meeting of the draft, which was chaired by Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani on Friday and attended by officials of various departments,it was decided to incorporate some of their suggestions like allowing IT units to function 24×7 by giving them additional support.

The government has also decided to provide uninterrupted power supply to IT units set up in the state.

At the meeting,it was also decided to market the policy by holding road shows across the country. Sources said that such road shows along with other measures to be adopted for “marketing the policy” will be listed in the final draft of the IT policy.

The final draft incorporating the suggestions of the IT firms will be placed before the state cabinet soon.

A month ago,the SP government had drafted its new IT policy and sought suggestions from all quarters. The draft of the policy was also sent to all the top IT companies for their suggestions.

“After a detailed discussion with the labour department,it was decided that a special order has to be issued by the government to ensure security for the employees working in the IT units,” said a senior government officer.
