Samajwadi Party (SP) MLC Devendra Pratap Singh, who was issued notice from the party leadership for staging protest against Gorakhpur SSP Pradeep Kumar Yadav, has sent his reply to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav questioning whether following the ideology of party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and ideologue Ram Manohar Lohia is “an anti-party or anti-government activity”.
Singh submitted his reply at the state SP headquarters in Lucknow Tuesday. He has sent the copies of reply to Mulayam and party general secretary Ramgopal Yadav too.
MLC from Gorakhpur-Faizabad Graduate Constituency, Singh was issued notice by Akhilesh on May 2.
In his reply, MLC has raised question that whether he should keep mum because he belongs to the ruling party even when a police officer assaults mothers and misbehaves with daughters and daughters-in-law. Singh alleged that the SSP had brutally assaulted SP leader and Gorakhpur Zila Panchayat member Shailendra Pratap Singh on April 19 on a false complaint given by ex-district president of BSP.

The MLC, in the reply addressed to Akhilesh, has mentioned, “I had shown video footage to the chief secretary and DGP, which shows the SSP and his police team creating ruckus in Basudeeha and Sisayal villages and misbehaving with women. I tried to contact you too but you were busy in a meeting. I have sent the video on your mobile phone”.
“For past two years, I am trying to meet you, but (my) efforts have failed. Taking advantage of lack of interaction, certain people are misleading you against me,” MLC has written to the CM.
Singh told The Indian Express that he has sent the reply of the notice at party headquarters today and has also sought time to meet CM to explain entire issue before him.
Akhilesh had issued notice to the MLC after he along with local BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan staged demonstration in front of SSP residence on April 30 demanding action against a local BSP leader in a case of assault.
Earlier, following complaints against SSP Pradeep Kumar Yadav, DGP A K Jain had issued warning to him through a letter on March 9 (copy of the letter is with The Indian Express). “I have received serious complaints that you consume excessive liquor, which is not acceptable for a district SSP. You should stop it and remain alert in district policing,: the DGP had written to the SSP. The DGP also had mentioned, “Your movement in the district after 5-6 pm is almost nil, which is matter of concern”.
When contacted, SSP Pradeep Kumar Yadav refused to speak about the DGP’s letter and also about the issues related to the MLC.
Pradeep Kumar Yadav, a 2002 batch IPS of Punjab cadre, is on deputation in UP since after Samajwadi Party government came to power in 2012. He belongs to UP’s Jaunpur district.
