In Mahoba,student commits suicide before declaration of results

Fearing poor show in examinations,a Class XII student committed suicide by hanging himself in his house under Kotwali police station area of Mahoba district before the CBSE results were declared on Monday,the police said.

Fearing poor show in examinations,a Class XII student committed suicide by hanging himself in his house under Kotwali police station area of Mahoba district before the CBSE results were declared on Monday,the police said.

The incident came to light this morning. The results later showed that he had failed in four subjects.

According to the Mahoba police,the victim,son of a railway engineer,was home with his sister in Railway Colony. His parents were out of station. “The incident came to light this morning when his sister woke up. His parents were out of station. Prima facie,it appears that the boy was under pressure over his results and decided to take the extreme step,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (Mahoba),Dr Manoj Kumar.

Station Officer (Kotwali) Om Prakash Tiwari,said: “The boy’s parents had gone to Lucknow to attend some function. Investigations revealed that he watched television till 1 a.m. After that he went to bathroom and bolted it from inside. He then hanged himself with a rope from the water pipe. No suicide note has been recovered.”

Preliminary inquiry,added Tiwari,revealed that the the Class XII student had not told his parents that he had done badly in the examinations. “But he had confided in his friends that his examinations have not gone well. They told us that he was worried about the results,” he said.
