In order to begin the construction work for Lucknow metro in December,also the deadline set by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav,the High Power Committee,led by Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani,will meet on October 29 to set in motion the process of finalising tender-related documents and awarding of work contracts.
Government sources said the Lucknow metro cell would be able to float tenders for construction work only after HPCs nod following the meeting,which will be chaired by senior officials from departments such as finance,industry,urban development,housing and urban planning,public works and power,among others.
Lucknow metro is slated to begin operations by 2016.
According to sources,the committee will also discuss the changes,as per the directives laid out by the government on India,made in the Detail Project Report of Lucknow metro rail. The DPR was prepared by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and in which the Centre had asked to incorporate various transport systems as feeder service to connect the metro with different parts of the city.
