The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday reserved its order on a petition filed by the CBI demanding cancellation of bail granted to Rajesh Talwar. Dr Talwar, father of slain Noida teenager Arushi Talwar,is facing prosecution in her murder case along with his wife,Nupur Talwar. A single judge bench of Justice B K Narayana reserved the order following conclusion of arguments from both sides. Counsel for CBI Anurag Khanna said: The final arguments concluded on Tuesday, following which the court reserved its order. He said the CBI had challenged the interim bail granted to Dr Talwar by Special Judicial Magistrate in Ghaziabad in 2008. He should have surrendered before the court when the trial began, following Supreme Court orders earlier this year.
CFSL expert stands by his previous statement
Ghaziabad: The cross-examination of senior CFSL biologist Dr B K Mahapatra continued at a Ghaziabad sessions court on Tuesday. He was asked about evidence taken from Krishnas room. Krishna,an employee of prime accused Rajesh Talwar, was earlier suspected in the double murder of Arushi Talwar and Hemraj, but was later let off due to lack of evidence. Mahapatra reiterated his findings on these samples before Additional Sessions Judge Shyam Lal,and said no DNA was generated from either clothing or the khukri. In his earlier statements before court,Mahapatra had said that while there was evidence of a blood stain on the khukri,no DNA was generated. The examination of Mahapatra will continue on Wednesday.
