Govt nod to Vigilance for FIR against ex-minister

The UP government today allowed Vigilance Establishment to lodge an FIR against former small-scale industries minister Chandradeo Ram Yadav on charges of amassing assets through illegal means and misuse of his status as minister during the previous government.

Principal Secretary (Home) R M Srivastava confirmed the development.

The Vigilance had last week sent to the government reports of inquiries against former BSP ministers who included Yadav,Naseemuddin Siddiqui,Ramveer Upadhyay,Rakesh Dhar Tripathi and Babu Singh Kushwaha,seeking permission for lodging FIRs against them for a detailed investigation.

Earlier,the government had ordered Vigilance inquiry into charges of corruption and amassing assets through illegal means against six ministers of previous Mayawati cabinet. Inquiries in most of the cases were recommended by the UP Lokayukta.

The Vigilance has also lodged cases against former secondary education minister Ranganath Mishra and former animal husbandry minister Awadhpal Singh Yadav.
