Former minister,son booked for rape

Etah police on Saturday registered an FIR against former minister Awadhpal Singh Yadav and his son Ranjit Singh for allegedly raping a woman who was working at his house as domestic aide.

Etah police on Saturday registered an FIR against former minister Awadhpal Singh Yadav and his son Ranjit Singh for allegedly raping a woman who was working at his house as domestic aide. The case has been registered at Etah’s Aliganj police station under various Sections of the IPCs including Section 376 (rape).

“A FIR against Awadhpal and his son Ranjit Singh has been filed on rape and other charges”,confirmed Station Officer,Aliganj police station,Rakesh Awasthi.

Last month,the State Women Commission (SWC),acting on a complaint filed by the victim,Sunita (name changed),directed the SSP,Etah to inquire into the rape charges and submit the report.

In her application,Sunita had claimed that she was working as a domestic aide at the house of Awadhpal. She claimed that he assured her of a government job and she started living in his house. She alleged that Awadhpal regularly exploited her and his son raped her and took obscene pictures last year. The complainant also claimed that she had approached the local police,but her report was not registered.
