Two former IIT-Kanpur students, who were summoned on Thursday for questioning in the case of murder of Mumbai-based fashion designer Aadesh Bajpai, told CBI that they had seen their batchmate Rahul Verma, now student of IIM-Lucknow,dispose off the victims bones.
The two,now employed with MNCs and based in Maharashtra, reportedly said they did not tell anyone because Verma had threatened to frame them in case they revealed the secrets.
Verma, who was arrested last week, told CBI that three of his batchmates had helped him in disposing the body. Verma had allegedly murdered Bajpai in his hostel room in 2008,cut the body into pieces, dissolved the flesh in acid and chemicals, and disposed off the bones in an isolated part of the campus.
The agency had sought the help of IIT-K authorities in tracing the three ex-students,but it turned out that only two of them existed and the third name given by Verma was a fictitious name.
CBI sources have refused to disclose their identity, saying they needed to verify their statements. Sources said the duo have denied that they helped Verma in disposing the body, but said they saw him treating some bones with acid and chemicals.
