Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Tuesday said that the main focus of the government was to ensure security of those who have fled villages in the wake of the Muzaffarnagar communal clashes.
Talking to reporters after a Cabinet meeting,he said: “The Muzaffarnagar incidents and steps taken by the government so far to control the violence were discussed in the Cabinet. The situation is under control but people have moved out of their villages and have taken shelter elsewhere. Providing security to such people and ensuring peace in the area is our main focus now.”
He said strict action would be taken against all those who have tried to create a divide between the communities.
Asked whether BJP leaders against whom FIRs have been registered would also be arrested,Akhilesh said steps were being taken to punish the guilty and it was upon the administration to decide who should be arrested.
“All I can say is that all those who have tried to create this divide among the people would not be spared and strict action would be taken against all of them” said Yadav.
