An FIR was lodged against Ballia’s BSP legislator Manju Singh, her sons and brother, accusing them of abducting a businessman,Abhay Singh,on Friday. The MLA’s brother Randhir Singh lodged a cross FIR,alleging Abhay abducted his son.

The FIR was the fallout of a petty dispute — which started between the sons of two families who attended the same school and had a fisticuff in the bus on their way home, said Ballia Kotwali SHO Bachcha Paswan. Abhay’s son Bittu and Randhir’s son Sidhhartha were brawling and when the bus reached Bittu’s house at Shriram Vihar Colony,he complained to his family. When Abhay Singh scolded Sidhhartha, his family arrived to take up cudgels. The two groups then proceeded to the police station, where Abhay’s wife Poonam lodged an FIR alleging that Manju Singh, her sons Sonu and Monu and brother Sudhir barged into her house and kidnapped her husband. Abhay, the SHO added, had returned home safe. Randhir Singh lodged another FIR,accusing Abhay of abduction.
