While the polling for the first phase on Wednesday saw record voters’ turnout of 62 per cent in the state, another encouraging trend which has emerged from the primary data of the first phase election voting is “equal participation” of female voters in the polling.

Joint CEO Anita Meshram on Thursday said according to primary reports received from the districts, the overall female voters’ turnout in the first phase of the Assembly election has been equal to that of male voters,a significant change from earlier elections’ male-female voters’ turnout ratio in the state, which used to be as much skewed as 60 per cent male voters to 20 per cent female voters.
