The Election Commission sought a report on Wednesday from the district magistrate of Lucknow on the violence during an election-related programme held on Tuesday night.

Seven persons were injured in a clash between supporters of different political parties during the TV show Kaun Banega Pradhan Mantri at Lohia Park in Gomti Nagar.

Violence had also taken place during a similar programme in Kanpur recently.

Fourteen candidates,meanwhile,filed their nomination for 10 Lok Sabha constituencies on Wednesday.

Prominent candidates among them were Yogi Adityanath of BJP (Gorakhpur),Kailash Nath Singh Yadav of BSP (Chandauli) and Ram Chandra Tyagi of BSP (Robertsganj).

Altogether,43 candidates have filed their nomination so far for the first phase of polling — to be held on April 16 — in which 16 Lok Sabha constituencies will go to polls in the eastern parts of the state.

The filing of nominations for the first phase will continue till March 30,while scrutiny of papers will be taken up on the next day. Withdrawal of nominations can be done till April 2.
