The Government Railway Police on Friday night arrested four persons including son of a deputy registrar of a university in Bihar,for their alleged involvement in over 100 theft cases. The four were picked up from platform number 4 of the Charbagh Railway Station and some stolen goods and 400 gm of drugs were allegedly recovered from them. Police said they were tipped off that some miscreants involved in several theft cases were coming to Lucknow from Varanasi on Vishwanath Express. The police team laid a trap and arrested them. The four arrested have been identified as Pervez of Ghazipur,Taj Mohammad of Sant Kabir Nagar,Waqar of Bihar and Surendra Singh of Jaunpur. Waqar is said to be the gang leader and is the son of Tauqir Alam,the deputy registrar of a university in Bihar. During questioning,the accused confessed to having been involved in around 100 cases of theft lodged in Varanasi,Allahabad,Jaunpur and Lucknow. We also recovered stolen goods from their possession which they brought to Lucknow to sell,said in-charge of the GRP,Charbagh,Tripurari Pandey.
