Showering sops for his cadres,Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav announced on Wednesday that 100 handpumps will be installed at the recommendation of the district and city unit presidents of the party in every district. They will be also issued entry passes for secretariat.
Mulayam made the announcement in the presence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at a meeting of district and city unit presidents at party office. There are 94 district and city unit presidents of SP in the state.
The demand was raised by Jaishanker Pandey,district president of Faizabad unit. Most of the presidents urged me to raise the issue. I placed it before Mulayam Singh and he consented, Pandey stated.
We are often approached by people. For every small things we have to request MLAs. You very well know the temperament of our legislators, he stated. Pandeys nephew Tejnarain Pandey alias Pawan Pandey is MLA from Ayodhya and is minister of state for entertainment tax. Jaishanker himself is chairman of animal husbandary advisory board,with the status of a minister of state. You have given me minister of state status and I can go anywhere and meet the officials. It is not the same for several of my colleagues. They cannot even enter the secretariat,Pandey stated.
At this,Mulayam announced that 100 handpumps will be installed at the recommendation of every district unit president. All the district presidents will be also issued entry passes for secretariat. You will have all the liberty to meet officials for peoples work. It will help you as I understand that several of the presidents cant acccess the secretariat, Mulayam reportedly said.
The usual grudge against ministers for ignoring workers interests was also raised by some district presidents. Others stated that several officials are working with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) mindset. Mulayam assured that their complaints will be taken seriously. You give me your complaint in writing. Action will be taken even if it is a senior official. You people are the backbone of the party, he said.
